Nadia District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd started its journey in the year 1961 with an aim to provide financial services to the fringe population in Nadia District in terms of both financial and geographical connotations, mostly belonging to Cooperative fold. Activity of the Bank has been covered across the length and breadth of Nadia district. Presently, the Bank has around 1300-member cooperative societies, of which more than 300 are Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies with around 135000 Kishan Credit Card holders, forming mainstay of the system committed to the cater credit need of rural agrarian community. 

The Bank having 40298 SHGs involving 3,82,862 members in the District had been recognized Nationally by Government of India. Sri Arun Jaitley, the then Hon’ble Union Minister, Govt. of India in a programme held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi awarded the bank in 2017.

In the State Credit Seminar-2018 organized by NABARD, the bank also received 1st Prize under SHG and farm Sector respectively.

For three consecutive years Nadia DCCB has received Samabay Ratna Award from Cooperation Department, Government of West Bengal.

Moreover, on 4th March, 2019 the bank received 1st Prize from WBSRLM, Panchyat & Rural Development Department, Government of West Bengal for highest Credit Linkage for the SHG during the year 2017-18 & the award had been handed over by the then Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Panchayat & Rural Development Department, Government of West Bengal.

The bank also received Samabaya Shrestha & Samabay Ratna Awards from the Cooperation Department, Government of West Bengal during the year 2018-19.

Nadia DCCB Ltd also received 2nd Prize Banco Blue Ribbon Trophy 2020 in District Central Cooperative Bank Category of 1001 to 2000 Crores Deposit Group.

Network of the bank comprises of 23 branches and 11 ATMs. There were 133521 farmer account (KCC Holders) & 775482 non –farmers general Customer accounts as on 31.03.2022. The Bank had extended Rs. 501 Crore loan to the farmers & Rs. 321 crores to the SHG during 2021-22. The bank was having deposit around Rs.1970 Crore against Loans and Advances of around Rs. 1178 Crore during 2021-22. CD Ratio stood at 59.81%, Gross NPA 6.99% and Net NPA 3.79% as per Audit Report as at 31/03/2022. Net Profit (before tax) was Rs. 18.37 Crore as on 31.03. 2022. Overall recovery is 86.92% during 2021-22.

Descriptions of some social impact initiatives-

  1. a) Opening of new bank branches in unbanked gram Panchyat of Nadia district to extend banking services in those unbanked areas.
  2. b) Opening of 231 new customer service points (CSP) to render banking services to the customers by way of extension outreach.
  3. c) Livelihood development through agri-skills like training in Dairy, poultry, piggery, fishery, duckery, apiculture, horticulture, nursery management, pomology, spices & condiments etc.
  4. d) Livelihood development through training in tailoring, beautician, preparing of custom & junk jewellery, boutique etc.
  5. e) Convergence of developmental programme of different departments of Govt. of West Bengal like-Cooperation, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fishery, Animal Resource Development.
  6. f) Setting up of 30 community sales counters in different parts of Nadia district that help in marketing the products of both rural & urban artisans.
  7. g) Financial education & investment planning of around 10,000 customers through 100 Digital Financial literacy programmes during 2022-23.
  8. h) Through Borrower Protection Fund scheme (a unique scheme of Nadia DCCB Ltd), total Rs.83.19 lakhs waived from deceased account of 19 loanee members to give a relief to the next of kin as social security during 2021-22.
  9. i) Through Members Welfare Fund scheme (a pioneering scheme envisaged by the bank, unique in itself in SHG sector in the state) an amount of Rs. 6.68 Crores have been disbursed so far to around 11602 SHG members or their next of kin as onetime relief measure as social security in the unfortunate event of untimely death of such members or their spouse and a token amount has been provided as an impetus for higher education of girl child of SHG members.
  10. j) The bank has its own Video conference facility at its Head office at Krishnagar.
  11. k) The bank inaugurated multi counter sales counter viz.- AIKYATAN to showcase and sale of product prepared by SHGs on 07th July 2018.

With such financial along with social activities over the years, Nadia District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd. has emerged as a prominent torch bearer of Cooperative Movement, acknowledged beyond the boundaries of the District and the State. The Bank is committed to shoulder such responsibilities in the years to come, thereby contributing its part towards the endeavour to strengthen Cooperative Sector from within.
